Barn Stahl Family Center: Pumpkin Patch

I have a love/hate relationship with fall. I love the changing temperature, the colors of the leaves, everything pumpkin spice,  the cardigans/scarves and boots and all the fun fall events - like pumpkin patches and apple orchards. But I hate that we can't do these events as a family. Nick is a farmer, so that means once all these fun events start...so does harvest. And there is no pulling him out of the fields to go to a pumpkin patch!! Luckily, I'm able to do 'all things fall' with Nick's family {mom, sister, sister in law} and the rest of the farmer's wives in the area.

On Sunday, Kimber & I went to the pumpkin patch with Gramma, Aunt Paige, Aunt Allysha, Chloe and Abey. We met Aunt Deb, Cody and Zach at the pumpkin patch.

In prior years, we've went to Center Grove Orchard, but it's expensive and usually so busy that the kids have to wait in long lines and it's not as much fun. Gramma heard of Barn Stahl Family Center and thought we'd give it a try. It was perfect!! The admission was half the amount, there were plenty of people there but it wasn't packed and it seemed to cater more towards younger kids so it was great for Chloe, Abey and Kimber.

Nick still doesn't understand why we have to take the kids to the pumpkin patch when we have everything at the farm: pumpkin patch, apple trees, corn stalks, animals to pet, tractors/gators/wagons to ride on, corn to play in and a swing set to play on. But they have so much fun! {And...it might be a little more for the adults than the kids}

When we got to the pumpkin patch, we tried to get a picture of Chloe, Allysha and Abey in the cutout. But Chloe was more excited about climbing thru the hole instead of putting her head thru it!

Abey made the cutest little puppy!

There were a lot of different animals to look at.
Peacocks, camels, zebras, ostrich, llamas, buffalo, horses and cows!

Kimber wasn't a huge fan of the corn pit. She didn't like that she couldn't stand up and walk in it. But the other kids loved it. I think Aunt Paige had the most fun!

Of course, we had to take posed pictures on the hay bale.

Chloe's smile and the way she's squeezing Kimber so tight melts my heart!
She loves her baby cousin so much. And she's such a great big cousin to Kimber.

And by this point, Kimber was over getting her picture taken and ready to play!

The kids enjoyed the playground area and the train rides.

Since Great Gramma & Grampa have a pumpkin patch at their house, we don't actually buy pumpkins. But that doesn't mean we can't take lots of pictures with them!!

Kimber loved the apple nachos.
Looks like I'll have to keep my fridge stocked with apples this fall!

We had such a great time at the pumpkin patch and we'll definitely make a trip back to the same one next year!

  1. That looks like such a fun little place! Love Kimber's smile in the last one! Looks like she's saying "cheese" :)
