Kimber: Month by Month {Year TWO}

Taking monthly pictures during year two proved to be more of a challenge than during year one. {see year one here} Mostly because I now have a mobile & independent toddler that doesn't always like to get her picture taken...even with bribes. But in the end, I'm glad I did these pictures so I can compare them and see how much she's grown  in the last year!! However...I do not plan on continuing to take monthly pictures or do monthly updates. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Kimber's DOS Fiesta: The PARTY!

We celebrated Kimber's 2nd birthday over Memorial Weekend with a Mexican themed Fiesta. I posted my inspiration for the party a few months ago and I'm happy to say that my vision of a bright & colorful girly fiesta party was a success! One of my favorite parts of the weekend was when Kimber walked into the house on Friday night {after spending all day with Gramma while I did party prep} and she was SO excited to see all the colors!! She kept saying "wow" over & over. It was too cute!!

Like last year, I asked my sister to help take pictures during the party since I was busy hosting. We took this picture of us with the birthday girl towards the end of the party and I love how it turned out!!

I never feel like I have enough pictures of just me & Kimber since I am always the one behind the camera...so I love when others will take pictures of us together!

Look at my sassy little girl! I love her so much!

One of my goals for her birthday party this year {since I sucked at it last year} was to get pictures of Kimber with guests.

I love that Kimber loves Traci {her daycare provider} so much!!
She's like family and I'm glad her family could celebrate Kimber's birthday with us!

Once Kimber got on the swing, there was no getting her off for pictures!

Kimber with her Godparents, Uncle TJ and Aunt Paige.

Kimber's best friend, Roma, was at to the party.
She was so excited to see Roma at her house!!

I knew I wasn't going to have much time to prep for her party this year. Since our move, we now live 45 minutes away from the nearest craft store, so it's not easy to make trips to pick up party supplies. I knew that Nick would be in the fields and I'd have a toddler to chase after by myself {unlike last year when she wasn't mobile yet!}. And I also was scheduled to be out of town  for work the week of her party. So instead of stressing myself out with a bunch of crafts - I bought all the decorations online and had them shipped to the house. So much easier...and so much less stress!

When I started looking for invites for Kimber's DOS Fiesta themed birthday party, I fell in love with this design from the Greylein Etsy shop. I didn't want the typical red pepper themed party...I wanted something a little more girly for the party.

These invites were perfect!!

I followed the same basic agenda as her party last year - eat, gift opening and cake.
But this year we added alittle extra fun {and sugar!} for the kids at the end with a piñata!!

Food Table:
I served corn dip & chips/salsa for appetizers and had a taco bar for the main meal.

Since the food was the last thing I set out before the party, I didn't get a picture of the final spread. We served all the basics - refried beans, beef, shredded chicken, lettuce, cheese, tomato, guacamole, black olives, jalapenos, sour cream and salsa. It was a big hit and everyone loved the food - but who doesn't love a good taco bar?!?

Drink Table:
I served strawberry lemonade for the kid's juice and a wine spritzer {pink lemonade, wine, 7up and fruit} for the adult's juice.
I also had a table with Corona, Budlight, water and juice the garage where everyone ate lunch.

Knowing that we were going to have almost 20 small kids running around my house during the party, I wanted to avoid as many spills as possible so I bought these colorful bottles with straws. Not only were they a HUGE hit with the kids...but I didn't have any spills to clean up!

Dessert Table:
Aunt Paige made Kimber's cake again this year and it turned out so cute!!
Gramma offered to make scotcheroos again this year and just like last year, they were gone in no time. They're always a big hit in our family!

I also served fruit cups and cookies in the shape of sombreros and maracas.
Again, we didn't get the cake & scotcheroos set up until right before the party started so I don't have a final picture of the dessert table.

Gift Table:
I set the gift table up in the livingroom. With our new house having an open concept - there was plenty of room for everyone to watch Kimber open gifts!

Since I took monthly pictures again this year, I wanted to incorporate it into the birthday party. It worked perfectly behind the gift table.

Opening gifts was so much more fun this year compared to her first bee-day party.
She was so excited to tear into the gifts!

Look at that cheeser grin!!

She was so excited about the bubbles!

Kimber has so many baby dolls, so when Uncle TJ asked what she needed for her birthday - I said sporting equipment!! There's been a lot of basketball being played in our house lately - mostly Daddy...but I'm sure Kimber will get the hang of it soon!

She also loved her trampoline and has been jumping on it non-stop!

Kimber loves to color, but doesn't have a table to sit at and has to lay on the floor...so I thought a little table set would be perfect for her. It's already full of crayon marks and she's been hosting tea parties with all her baby dolls!

After we opened the gifts, it was time to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl and eat the yummy cake!!! She didn't quite understand how to blow out the candles, so Mommy had to help her out. But she sure knew how to dig into the cake and eat it!

As if we didn't have enough sugar in our bellies, it was time for the piñata!!

It was mostly all little girls hitting the piñata and then two big boys!
They did most of the damage to it...and were probably most excited about the candy!!

I still can not believe Kimber is almost TWO!!
We had so much fun celebrating our baby girl with our friends and family!
