Weekend Wrap-up

I was able to spend an entire Saturday with Kimber and I loved it! It seems like we always have something to do or somewhere to go, so I don't get quality one on one time with her on the weekends! And secretly, I'm excited about the weather forecast for this weekend coming up. Cold & Snowy = all three of us snuggled up on the couch in our pajamas!! What could be better?? And maybe I'll sneak into town during her long afternoon nap for a mani/pedi!

Friday:
Friday was an emotional day for me. After the story about Batboy came out all I could do was think about Blake and how much I miss him. It made me think about Thanksgiving and how hard it is going to be this year without him. On Wednesday night, my parents & brother come up to my house and we do food prep for the next day. He was always in the kitchen with us wanting to help. I'm going to miss his laugh. His fun spunky attitude. And his snuggles when he got tired.

It was also my brother's birthday on Friday. How ironic that the Batboy event took place on his birthday. If you know Blake...you know his LOVE for Batman!

Nick is still in the fields, but got home at a decent time on Friday night. So he was able to feed Kimber & give her a bath. After she went to bed, we hang out on the couch. It's just what I needed after such an emotional day.

She looks so cute snuggled into her car seat. I still think she looks adorable in this owl hat!

On Friday night after work, we hung out in her room for awhile and played. I still can't get over how well she's sitting these days! And those baby blue eyes - adorable!

Saturday:
We were up bright & early on Saturday. Kimber is used to getting up between 5:30-6:00am during the week and that's the same time she gets up on the weekends. Nick was out of the house by 6:30 to go to the farm, so it was a 'Mommy & Mini' day.

We played. She napped. I cleaned. We ran errands. She napped again. I cleaned some more. We played. I wrote {long overdue} thank yous.

That night we had a 30th birthday party to go to. Funny how much parties have changed since all of Nick's friends have little kids/babies. There were just as many babies at the party as adults and most of the crowd left by 10:00pm!

She LOVED these shoes! I was trying to get a picture of her in her new outfit & all she could do was look at her shoes!

The dreaded thank yous. I'm still working on them. And have yet to finish her baptism thank yous. Did I mention she was baptized in July? I NEED to get them done!

This was my first time at Hobby Lobby in MONTHS! I was so excited to walk thru the aisles and think of crafting projects to work on this winter!

Play time after she got up from her afternoon nap. She's doing so good playing by herself these days! I was able to get stuff done around the house while she hung out in the living room.

Sunday:
We were up bright & early on Sunday. {see a theme here?}
We went to church and had Sunday dinner with the Hickethier side to celebrate all the fall birthdays. Nick's uncle is moving to Europe in December, so we made sure to take family pictures together.

Gramma Hickethier with her great grandkids. Chloe did not want her picture taken at all!

I cropped the picture and this is what I was left with. LOVE IT! Definitely going to print this one out!

Simple Days

These are the days I don't want to forget.
The simple days.
A Saturday at home with my baby girl.

In the Blink of an Eye...

When I had Kimber everyone told me to enjoy every single moment of the newborn stage because it'll be gone in the blink of an eye. And it's so true! It's such a bittersweet time.  Although, I love seeing my baby girl grow & learn - I miss my little newborn baby!

I can not believe how much Kimber has changed in the last 2 weeks. She must have gone through a growth spurt because there are so many new things she's learned!!

Sitting up: She was sitting up with assistance before, but now she can sit for 20-30 minutes unassisted and play with her toys.

Eating her toes: She's been grabbing her feet for a few weeks now, but recently she started putting them in the mouth. When she's sitting up, but not when she's laying down.

Holding her bottle: She has started holding her own bottle. If she gets distracted & the bottle comes out of her mouth she doesn't have the hand/eye coordination to put it back in her mouth yet.

Fake cough: She has mastered the art of the fake cough. And of course the more attention we give it by saying things like "Oh, that's such a bad cough" - the more she does it. It's so adorable!

Jumping in her Jumperoo: We've been using her jumperoo for a couple of weeks now and she's always played with the toys on it, but hasn't jumped in it. In the last week, she's started jumping more and I'm sure within the next couple weeks she'll be jumping like crazy!!

Reaching for things: She's been reaching for things for a months, but her reaching has changed recently. It's hard to explain but it might be due to her hand/eye coordination getting better? She has started using her thumbs more in the last couple of weeks, too. So that might change how she's grabbing for things. She'll reach out & touch my face. When I go to pull her out of her carseat or pick her up off the floor - she'll put her arms out slightly.

We love to go up to her room & play after daycare. I sat her up last week expecting her to fall over in a matter of seconds, but I was surprised when she sat up for a couple of minutes. By the end of the week, she was able to sit for 20+ minutes and play with her toys!! Now I realize I need to get more toys for her to play with!!

My whole world

These two are my whole world. I could sit back and watch them for hours. Sure I love playing with Kimber myself, but there is something about watching them interact that melts my heart. Before we had Kimber, I knew that Nick would be nothing less than an amazing dad. But actually seeing him so hands-on makes me realize how lucky I am.

Nick has been working long hours this harvest season. Most nights getting home after Kimber was in bed. The first thing he'd do when he got home was go to her nursery & give her kisses. He'd stare at her and say how she's such a cutie patootie. I love looking at him when he's looking at Kimber. I can see the love in his eyes.

We were lucky enough to have a couple of nights that he made it home before she was in bed. He was exhausted when he got home from the farm. But instead of laying on the couch & relaxing - he wanted to spend time with Kimber. Playing on the floor with her. Feeding her. Giving her a bath. Reading to her.

I thought I loved him on our wedding day.
But it's nothing compared to how I feel when I see him with our baby girl.

Kimber's First Halloween

I'm not a huge Halloween fan. But when you have a baby that all changes! Any excuse to dress her up every day for a week - I'm in!! I found cute outfits to put her in for the week leading up to Halloween.

Sunday: Day One "Boo"

Monday: Day Two "I'm a little scaredy-cat"

 Tuesday: Day Three "skeleton"

 Wednesday: Day Four "skeleton"

Thursday: Day Five "My First Halloween"

On Halloween Day, we went trick or treating in Alden with Gramma, Allysha, Chloe and Abey. Nick was in the fields, so he wasn't able to go with us. We only went to a few houses - Uncle Kelly, Mary Kate, Fran, Dave & Tara, Great Gramma Hickethier and Great Gramma & Grampa Hoversten.

Kimber & Great Gramma Hickethier

Love this picture of the kids together!

These aren't the best pictures of Kimber & Chloe together - but just look at the way Kimber has her hand on Chloe and Chloe is holding Kimber. Melt my heart!

Nick was done with fieldwork by the time we made it to Great Gramma & Grampa Hoversten's house. He was so excited to see Kimber in her costume! Treat or Treating must have been exhausting - she passed out in Daddy's arms!

We had a great first Halloween with Kimber and I'm already thinking about costume ideas for next year! And picking out her "week of Thanksgiving" outfits! Yep, I'm 'that' mom!
