Alden Days + Father's Day 2015: Weekend Wrap-up

Our town celebration was this past weekend and we had such a great time! Funny to think that only a couple years ago, I thought Alden Days meant closing down the bars at 2am. Who knew there were all kinds of activities during the day?!? Town celebrations really change when you have kids!!

We started the fun on Friday night with the kiddie parade. We decorated the kids bikes with leftover decorations from Kimber's DOS Fiesta and they were so excited to have them decorated! Next year we'll have to think ahead and come up with a fun theme for them!

Since Dave & Tara were moving this weekend, I picked up Henry and he joined us for the kiddie parade!

After the kiddie parade, we stopped by Aunt Deb's house for a while before leaving town. These crazy kids love this car that Deb has. They fight over who is going to 'drive' the car every time they get in it!

Kimber and Henry are only three weeks apart and recently they've really had a lot of fun playing together! It's so much fun watching their bond grow and watching them grow up together!!

On Saturday morning, it was pouring and I wasn't sure if we'd be able to do any celebrating that day. But it cleared up just in time for the parade. We walked in the parade to support Aunt Paige and her new chiropractic business. The adults handed out business cards while the kiddos sat in the ranger and threw out candy.

After the parade, we headed to the park for lunch and the bouncy houses. We were at the park for two hours and the kids had so much fun playing in the bouncy houses.

Two hours of jumping = a two hour nap!!!

Kimber napped in the car while we helped Dave & Tara move into their new house. And my helped...I mean, Nick sat in the garage and drank beer with his buddies while Tara & I put together Henry's room and arranged the living room & dining room.

After Kimber woke up from her nap, we headed back into town to jump in the bouncy houses and eventually made our way back to Deb's house for fireworks. By the time the fireworks were over, we were all exhausted and headed home for bed!!

Sunday morning, we were exhausted!! Since it was Father's Day, I let Nick sleep in and Kimber and I snuggled on the couch, ate breakfast and I gave her a bath. Kimber woke up Daddy, while I started getting ready for church. We were greeters at church, so we had to be there earlier than usual. We ate lunch in the church basement {we had a visiting Vicar and lots of leftover from providing lunch for Alden Days} and then headed home for a family nap!

This was the only decent picture I could get of Nick & Kimber at the church. Kimber is too wild these days to sit still for a picture!

After we all took a 2.5 hour nap {amazing!!!} - it was time to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. We set up the water table and bouncy house and Kimber had fun playing outside {along with playing on the swing set and being pushed in her trike}.

What's cuter than a baby in a swimsuit and mudders?!?

Kimber watched Daddy practice his golf game.

 We finished the night with a trip to the farm to visit Great Gramma & Grampa and rides on the 4-wheeler. It was a fun and exhausting weekend!

Kimber's DOS Fiesta: The big DAY

Last year, we started a few birthday DAY traditions:
1. Balloons in the room when she wakes up.
2. Bring treats to daycare.
3. Dinner at her favorite restaurant
{we picked obviously, but as Kimber gets older we'll let her decide}

Like last year, when someone wakes you up singing Happy Birthday and throwing balloons at you - you really don't know what is going on! Oops! Maybe I need to calm down a little on birthday mornings?

After she woke up and realized there were balloons, she was a little more excited and wanted to take them to the living room with her. I used the term "excited" loosely because she obviously still looks super sleepy...and so does Daddy!!

I wanted to get a picture of her in her birthday shirt, but she wasn't too excited to pose for the camera.
Instead, she stuck the sippy in her mouth and gave me the side-eye.

Kimber picked out s'more cupcakes for her birthday treat. Store bought of course, since this mama doesn't bake. And the store bought ones taste way better than anything I would attempt to make.

Her hair is killing me lately! It's getting longer & thicker and her curls are so adorable! Wanna get attention everywhere you go?!? Have a daughter with red, curly hair. Whenever I take her grocery shopping with me, we get a minimum of five comments on how adorable her hair is.

 Gramma, Chloe and Abey picked Kimber up from daycare in the afternoon and headed out to the campgrounds to play while I finished up at work. She had fun playing with her cousins and running up & down the hill!

We invited Gramma & Papa to come to Kimber's birthday celebration dinner with us. Like last year, we went to Texas Roadhouse. We ordered some of her favorite foods for her - ribs, mashed potatoes and green beans. But, she didn't eat much of it since she filled up on rolls {with cinnamon butter - YUM!} and peanuts before we got our food.

After we ate, it was time for the birthday girl to sit on the saddle while everyone wished her a Happy Birthday!!
And get FREE ice cream!

One of my favorite things Kimber says right now is "Silly, Papa" because he's always joking around with her. And these pictures prove what a Silly Papa he is!

We headed back to the campgrounds to hang out with friends and family. Kimber ran around with all the kids and had a great time! She ended up staying with Gramma & Papa in the camper - what a great way to end her birthday!!

{And Mom & Dad got to sleep in until 8:00 the next morning!!}
