Snapshots of our Lives: September 2014

I feel like I take SO many pictures on my phone that never end up anywhere. I have over 2,700 pictures to prove it!! So I want to start posting them on the blog {I should have done this 15 months ago when Kimber was born!}. I feel like they tell the story of our lives more than the pictures I take on the fancy camera that I pull out for special occasions. They aren't going to be the best quality pictures, but I'm okay with that. I'm not sure how often I'll post these pictures - maybe once a month? More than that if we have more going on...and I find the time to download them from my phone!

We'll start at the beginning of September.

Uncle TJ was in Cedar Rapids for work and stopped by on his way home. Kimber LOVES Uncle TJ! They have the best time playing together! And he always brings her a cute outfit when he comes to stay!

When he text me and said he was going to stay - the first thing that came to my mind was his wings!! He makes the best hot wings. He grilled wings, brats, potatoes and asparagus for us and it was amazing. Can't wait for the next time he comes for a visit!!

My sister, Franny, and two of her girls came to visit over Labor Day weekend. She wanted to see the new house and spend time with Kimber. We hung out at home, went to the rodeo on Saturday night and headed to the campgrounds on Sunday to hang out with Nick's family. She left on Monday morning and we spent the rest of the day relaxing & napping with Kimber!!

Funny story about the rodeo. Before we left the house, Franny changed Kimber's diaper and clothes. She found a Huggies diaper {it was Abey's} and put it on her. We always use Pampers. During the National Anthem, I felt something dripping on my foot and squealed out. Everyone sitting around us turned and looked at me! Yep - she had peed on my foot!! The funny thing is that her diaper and jeans were barely wet! It somehow leaked out the side of the diaper and down her leg without soaking herself! Luckily, I did have extra jeans for her in the diaper bag - but they were WHITE! So yes, I was the mom that had my baby in all white at the rodeo.

Kimber & Abrahm {or Baby Abey as I like to call him} have been spending a lot more time together since we moved up to the new house. Kimber stayed home from daycare since she wasn't feeling well {read: more ear infections}. I left work at noon so Nick could get some stuff done at the farm. When I picked her up from the farm, Abey wanted to come home with us and play. I made a fort to them to play tractors in and they had a great time!

Overall, Kimber is a very happy smiley baby. BUT when she got yet another ear infection this month...she was crabpants!! She was fussy & clingy and wanted to be held all the time! I took her to the doctor and her right ear was so gunky that the doctor couldn't even see in it! She put her on both ear drops and oral antibiotics. Which ofcourse, meant Kimber got a cake pop from Starbucks while we were waiting for the prescription to be filled!

The weekend of the Iowa/Iowa State game, we hung out at home in our pajama's in the morning and headed to Ankeny at noon to watch the game at Ann's house. {And to celebrate Tyson's birthday!!} Kimber is at the age where you have to watch her all.the.time. There's no sitting back, relaxing and watching the game. Instead we spent most of the time chasing after her, keeping her out of the street, keeping rocks out of her mouth and pushing her on the swing!

September nights have been beautiful so far! When I get home from work, Kimber & I go outside and enjoy the weather. I mostly stand around and watch her walk up & down the driveway or play on her slides. Other times, I pull her around in the wagon or push her on the tricycle. She loves it when Daddy mows because she gets rides on the lawnmower or the tractor!!

That has been the first part of September for us so far! It's a busy, exhausting, amazing life and I wouldn't trade it for anything!!
