Kimber: Seventeen Months Old

I don't even know where to start this monthly post. I've pulled this up several times to write and I am blank. I feel like we went through so much as a family this month and am even more thankful for my sweet little family. Daddy gave us a big scare this month when he fell from the grain bin and was in the hospital for four days. It's been almost 4 weeks since the accident and I still can't think about everything without tearing up. In the end, we know that Daddy had his guardian angels watching over him and keeping him safe, but I can't help and think what might have been. His injuries could have been so much worse. He could be paralyzed or suffered head trauma and never been the same. Or the fall could have ended his life. And that thought makes me want to keep you & Daddy close.

Being away from you for four days while Daddy was in the hospital was the hardest days. We knew you were happy & safe with Gramma & Papa {and probably had more fun than being home with us!}. But with all the emotions we were feeling - we wanted to be with you. We couldn't even say your name or talk about you without crying. I was so excited when Daddy was released from the hospital and we could be home together as a family. The best was watching you snuggle with Daddy in the mornings & at night when you had your sippy of milk and sat on his lap in the rocking chair.

I love you sweet baby girl.

Weight: 25.4 pounds {84%}

Height: 32.0 inches

Diaper Size: Size 5.  Moved up to size 5 on October 5.

Clothing Size: 24 months or 2T.

Sleeping:  GOOD! GOOD! GOOD! Not all month was it this good. But the last 2 weeks of this month, we have been laying Kimber down awake around 8-8:30. She will fall asleep on her own with no fussing. And sleep until morning!!!

When Nick first came home from the hospital, he was getting up at least once a night to use the bathroom & take pain medicine and I would get up to help him. This would wake Kimber up {she's SUCH a light sleeper} and so I'd be up with both my 'kids' taking care of them. But after a couple of days, she  started sleeping thru the night again. Which made me happy because it was exhausting being up with both of them!

Nap time: One nap a day at 1:00pm for 1.5-3 hours.

 Food: Table food & Cows milk.

Kimber is such a great eater. The only time we have an issue with her eating is when there is a lot going on around her and she is distracted. But overall, whatever we put on her plate she will at least try and usually eat it.

She loves almost all fruits and vegetables. This month, we introduced her to fresh apples & pears. Not sure why but I haven't given them to her before but she loves both of them!

We have started giving her a fork & spoon on a regular basis and she does a pretty good job of using them. It cracks me up how kids turn the spoon upside down as they put it to their mouth and the food ends up over the front of them instead of their mouths!!

Kimber used to love mac & cheese and we made it for her way too much. But lately, she hasn't been as big of a fan so we haven't made it for her in a couple of weeks.

She is still on the same cow's milk routine:  in the morning before daycare, with lunch and at night before bed for a total of 20-24 ounces of milk a day. She loves to drink apple or cranberry juice mixed with water - she will have at least 3-4 sippy cups a night {plus some at daycare}

Favorite Foods:  hotdogs, ham, chicken strips/nuggets, pork chops, steak, ribs,
cooked carrots, green beans, mac & cheese, french fries,
bananas, grapes, watermelon, apples, pears
pancakes, donuts, cheese, bread/toast, pickles, peanut butter, ice cream

Least Favorite Foods: mash potatoes, hamburgers, blueberries

Health:  No infections this month...but her tubes have fallen out. It only took 6 months for her left tube to fall out. Her ear infection last month was only in her left ear and she was SUPER crabby. Atleast when we has the tubes, they relieve the pressure and she's not crabby when she gets ear infections. So...I made an appointment with the ENT to get new tubes and the date is set: November 10.

Nicknames: Kimber Sue. Kibber. Sissy. Monkey {by Dad}

Likes {new}: Smiling. Playing. Tickling. Playing with her belly button {and others}. Papa.

I feel like Kimber is doing so many new things that I can't even think of new likes...since it changes daily. But the first things that come to mind when I think of  Kimber's likes are: Smiling - this girl is ALWAYS happy. She smiles, laughs and gives kisses all the time! Of course there are times when she's not as happy, but overall I can't get over how outgoing & talkative this girl is!! Playing - Kimber amazing me all the time with her playing. She knows how to feed the baby/cover the baby up/put the baby to sleep and hush it when it's crying. Where did she learn to do all of this?!? Tickling - this is nothing new. She has been tickling us for months. But I still love that she looks at me, smiles and tickle, tickle, tickles me. It melts my heart! Playing with her belly button - this girl loves to lift up her shirt and play with her belly button and others if they pull up their shirts! Papa - Her eyes light up when Papa comes in the room. She loves her Papa so much!!

{same as last month}:  Moo. Animal Book. Shoes. Eating/Puffs. Bath time/Showers with Dad.  Music/Dancing. Apple Juice. Giving Hugs/Kisses. Stuffed Animals. Sharing. Being on the move. Swings & Slides. Rides: Wagon/Bike/Lawn Mower. Crawling up the steps. Playing peek-a-boo. WALKING! Playing with baby dolls. Kitty. Moo Cow.

Disikes {new}: Time out

We have recently implemented time out at our house. Kimber is not a fan. But what kid is?? But I can already tell it is working. One day, she took the remote to the TV and we told her to bring it back to Daddy. When she didn't listen, we sat her in timeout {for one minute}. A few days later, she grabbed the remote again and we said if she didn't give it back she would have to sit in timeout. And she handed it right back. I hope this means she understands the difference between right & wrong and consequences.

{same as last month}:  Changing her diaper {having to lay on her back}. Getting told 'no'.

Words {new}:  Oops. Down. Roma. My little echo!

The cutest thing ever is when Kimber drops something and says "Oops" - except it sounds more like "oopth" or something like that. At bath time, she puts her toys away before it's time to get out and if a toy falls out of the storage bag she'll say it over & over. So cute!

When we're holding Kimber and she wants down, she'll say "down".

When we are walking into daycare, Kimber will say "Roma, Hi" over & over. She loves her best friend!! When we walk in the door, she can't get down fast enough to run over to Roma and give her kisses and tell her hi. Adorable!

Kimber has turned in to a little echo. She repeats so many words/phrases that she hears. I was handing her toys to put away and saying "and this" and she started repeating me. Now, anytime she picks up toys to put away, she'll say "and this" as she picks up a new toy and puts it away! She is repeating so many things that we say that it's hard to keep track of all her new words!

Words: Dada. Hi. Mama. Jayde. No. Okay.  Oh.  Tickle, Tickle, Tickle. Kitty, Kitty, Kitty. Moo. ha, ha, ha.  Go. Tractor noises. Ah oh. Ow. Please {signs and says}. What's that? Thank you. Again. Mm Hmm. Papa. Shoe. MeMe. Mine. Traci. Brady. Ashes, Ashes, Down! Corn. Baby. Sissy. Signs More. Signs All Done. Signs Milk. Kia. Swing.

Things to note:
This girl still loves her shoes. She will go in her shoe drawer in her room & pull out a pair and want me to put them on her. Even if she's wearing her feety pajamas! We used to take her shoes off when we got home at night, but she would bring them back to us to put on...so now we just don't take them off her!

Kimber is turning into a day devil. She likes to stand on top of things, walk up & down steps and not care about falling. And her new trick is to walk up our legs and flip over. She could do this all.night.long.

I have finally given in on the DVR in the car thing and let Kimber watch a movie on the way to/from daycare. Since the move, our commute went from 10 minutes to 30 minutes and with bringing food to the men in the fields during harvest, Kimber is in the care much more these days. So instead of listening to her get crabby from boredom in her car seat - she watches Frozen.
